Physics Department Colloquium ~ Ms. Stephanie J. Thomas

Friday, November 18, 2016
12:30 – 1:30 pm
Science Complex, P-317img

Ms. Thomas, Vice President of Princeton Satellite Systems, will describe the research path she has taken at her small company in the area of in-space propulsion.  This route from the extremely low thrust technology of Solar Sails to the exciting possibilities of the moderate thrust Direct Fusion Drive is by many avenues, including NASA small business research grants, consulting projects, commercial software, and most recently, a prestigious NASA Advanced Innovative Concepts grant.  At the same time, Ms. Thomas has managed to be present for her small children due to the flexible schedule a small company offers and is simultaneously President of her daughter’s PTA.  Ms. Thomas enjoys giving talks on STEM and “rocket science” to students of all ages.
