
TCNJ Biology alumna Gayatri Rao (’99), M.D., J.D., Director of the FDA’s Office of Orphan Products Development, was featured on National Public Radio in a story titled “Drugs For Rare Diseases Have Become Uncommonly Rich Monopolies.”
After completing her baccalaureate degree at TCNJ/TSC, Dr. Rao earned her M.D. from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey – New Jersey Medical School. Upon graduation from medical school, she went on to earn a joint J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she concentrated on healthcare and FDA related issues, and a master’s degree in bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
