Nine Years in the Woods: Measuring and Mentoring in the Forests of New Jersey
Janet Morrison and her students (past and present), Department of Biology
Abstract:
Mentoring undergraduate students in collaborative research provides deep learning experiences for students while advancing a robust scholarly program, and it also is a deeply satisfying teaching experience. This lecture will showcase results from a research mentoring model in forest ecology that has supported a long-term research program for the mentor on the interaction of deer and invasive plants, and multi-semester, credit-bearing experiences for 28 students (so far).
