Fun Facts/ Interests: I once got chased by a flock of geese and I read a lot of comic books

Goals: I believe that the students of the School of Science have the capability of coming together as a unified, supportive community. We may identify with our specific departments, but I hope to foster relationships between individuals who belong to the same school but would otherwise not interact with each other. With my fellow senators, I aim to provide you all with opportunities to cooperate so we can take steps towards maturing as well-rounded individuals and a unified school as a whole.

Internal Committee: Community Relations

Organizations: Founding member of Sigma Kappa Sorority

Goals: My goal for the year is to be able to bring up the issues that student’s may have and to be able to accomplish at least one major and beneficial change as senator of science. My biggest initiative is to listen to others because it’s the best way to know and understand what the students want.

Organizations: Treasurer of Student Chemists Association, Colleges Against Cancer, Science Tutor

Fun Facts/Interests: I love going to the beach, reading, playing the piano, working with children, and helping others.

Goals: This year as your Senator Science, I will establish a better mentoring program between upperclassmen and Freshman/ Transfer students as well as organize more opportunities for students to learn about their peers’ research projects. I also want students in the School of Science to learn more about scholarship opportunities, study abroad experiences, and career /higher education options that are available to them through various seminars. Through these events, I hope to establish a greater sense of unity throughout the School of Science. I am also takings action toward increasing community service within this organization and across campus.

 

Katherine McGarry

Internal Committee: Advancement

Organizations: Student Chemists Association

Fun Facts/Interests: I enjoy playing the flute, cooking, and long walks on the beach. I was a Drum Major of my high school marching band.

Goals: I hope to open up the ability for students to voice their concerns within the School of Science and work hard to address them. Various research projects are conducted by students every year and I hope to showcase these achievements to a wider audience so that students can be presented with more opportunities in their field.

Fun Facts/Interests: My favorite food is sushi because I lived in Japan for three months!

Goals: This year as a new senator, I will be working hard to listen to students and address their concerns. I hope to organize and plan events that involve more interaction between students and faculty in the science department, as well as between the different majors as well.

Fun Facts/Interests: I listen to Taylor Swift.

Goals: Though it may be my first year in Student Government, I am making it my priority to get your opinions on ways to make the School of Science and TCNJ a better experience for all of you.
