Paid Summer Internships at Rutgers

Join Dean Evelyn S. Erenrich from Rutgers University Graduate School-New Brunswick and TCNJ alumnus Alex Lopez (a current Rutgers graduate student) to learn about graduate study and undergraduate summer research opportunities at Rutgers through RiSE. RiSE is jointly sponsored by two of the nation’s leading public research institutions—Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey and the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. We choose 30 outstanding undergraduates from across the U.S. and its territories to participate in 10 weeks of cutting-edge research in the sciences (biological, physical, and social), math, engineering, and exciting interdisciplinary areas. As a RiSE Scholar, you will work under the guidance of a carefully matched faculty mentor. An attractive financial support package includes a substantial stipend, free on-campus housing for eligible participants, and travel reimbursement. RiSE alumni have an outstanding record of success.

If you are a high-achieving student passionate about research and considering graduate school, then RiSE may be for you! We especially encourage you to apply if you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who fits one or more of the following:

  •     from an economically/ educationally disadvantaged background
  •     from groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences
  •     first generation to college
  •     have limited opportunities for intensive research at your home university
  •     have followed a non-traditional path to college or have faced life challenges
